Thomas Fitzgerald Severson

Thomas "Tom" Fitzgerald Severson, 49, of Athens passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 5, 1972 in Gainesville, FL, he was the son of Kathy Severson Camp (Herbert) and the late Dr. Ray F Severson. Tom was a lifelong resident of Athens and an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ray F. Severson and sister Dr. Kathirae Severson.  Survivors include his wife Allison Hogan Severson and their son Dawson Allan Hogan Severson; his mother Kathy Severson Camp (Herbert); sister Lynn (Jeff) Holland; step siblings: Herbie Camp, Tammy (John) Still, and Mike Camp; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Tom will be remembered for his love of family and friends; his love for animals, especially his girls Mathilda, Dakota and Sophie; fishing; and his continued desire to learn new things. He loved to teach his son to explore life and all the joys it offers. Tom was one of his son's biggest supporters and loved watching him grow both academically and athletically. Tom held several management positions with various companies and he worked in the education field in student support services. However, his greatest accomplishment by far was adopting his son and becoming a Dad. He found joy in watching and supporting his son in all aspects of life. While he left us too early, his spirit and legacy will continue to live on with his family.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel  at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Casual attire is encouraged.
