Rose Marie Hays

August 22, 1954 — January 24, 2023

Rose Marie Hays, 68, of Athens, GA,  wife of 39 years to Jake Hays, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Born in Carrollton, MO, she was the daughter of the late James Otto and Joanne Stobaugh Branstuder. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Nicole Hays. Mrs. Hays worked in the Admissions Office at the University of Missouri, Kansas City and while living in Iowa she worked within the school system and had an in home daycare. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA for many years and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two children: Adam (Angela) Hays of Michigan and Rebecca (Johnathon) Karpie of Athens; sister: Laferne Moore of Washington and four grandchildren: Addison and Aubrey Hays and Kinley and Maya Karpie.

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at 4PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Mrs. Hays' memory to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
