Rina Totis, September 29, 1925 - January 21, 2023, age 97, passed peacefully at home in Athens, Georgia. Born in Flaibano, province of Udine, region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. Rina, Benito and Robert immigrated to Athens in March 1955. They became United States Citizens on October 23, 1969. Rina was employed at the United States Navy Supply Corp School department of child care for 30+ years and a pink lady volunteer at Saint Mary's Hospital for 10+ years. She was a devout Catholic and prayed her rosary every day and served others any way she could. She was devoted to the Church and assisted many priests and nuns passing through Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Saint Mary's hospital, and the University of Georgia Catholic Center in Athens, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Martino Tabiadon and Pia Benedetti-Tabiadon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benito R. Totis; son, Robert M. Totis; brother, Ernesto Tabiadon; and sister, Anita Tabiadon.
Rina is survived by her son, Paul A. Totis; sister, Olga Bruna Tabiadon; sister-in-law, Valeria Menegazzi-Tabiadon; and many nieces and nephews, many who still reside in Italy. We will forever be touched by her giving and loving heart and her life of service and devotion.
A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Rina Totis will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Entombment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park. All are welcome.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lord & Stephens, West Chapel, Watkinsville, GA, with a rosary service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers are Antonio Totis, Tony Totis, Pete Totis, Aulo Chiesa, Mannfried Isbell and Steven Isbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Capital Campaign at St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to St. Mary's Hospice House.
