Richard Patrick

Richard A. Patrick, age 93, passed peacefully Monday, July 13th at his home in Danielsville. He was born May 10, 1927 in Whitfield Co.  Ga. His mother was Mossie Pierce and father was Mickey Patrick.
Mr. Patrick began his military career before graduating high school and in his lifetime served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. He was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1987 after 42 years of service. While serving our country he attended Armstrong College, Oglethorpe University and Georgia State College.
Richard was passionate about his community. He served as the former Mayor of Danielsville and a founding member and former Chief of the Danielsville Volunteer Fire Dept. He was active in BSA, VFW and loved teaching his SS Class at Danielsville Baptist, were he also served as a Deacon. He later sang in the choir at Union BC until after his 80th Birthday.
He lived a rich, full life and was a follower of Jesus Christ in his adult life.
He was preceded in death by his bride of 62 years, Sarah Lewis Patrick and also a son, Leonard A. Patrick. He is survived by his 3 children, Iris Newbury (Bobby-deceased) Michael A. Patrick (Brenda-deceased) and Alica P. Carver (Alan). He was blessed with 6 grandchildren Alison Rodriguez (Alex)
Melody Mondragon (Chad) Neal Carver (Chandra) David Newbury, Paul Newbury (Allyson) and Isaiah Patrick (son of Leonard). He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws.
No services have been set at this time due to social distancing practices.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at a later date.
