Patricia Anne Malcolm, 78, of Athens, has left her earthly body and traded it for a new, eternal one, and is now beholding the face of Jesus, the One she loved and served all her life.
Born in Welaka, FL, Tricia was the daughter of John & Dorothy Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Jerome Malcolm. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Lynn (Jeffery) Patrick and Hope Malcolm; grandchildren, Scott (Emma) Patrick, Lindsey (Raven) Gebhardt, Joseph, Nash, and Jakari Patrick; great-granddaughters, Ada and Isla Patrick; brothers, Doug (Becky) Martin, Johnny (Marsha) Martin, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, who all love her dearly.
“Mrs. Tricia”, as so many people called her, was a member of Central Baptist Church for 70+ years. She was a lover of people, especially children. Most of her life was devoted to children. She kept children in her home and loved them as her own for 30 years. During that time, sharing the love of Jesus with those children was her focus. As a direct result of that focus, she also became a mentor to young mothers. Not only did Tricia keep children in her home, but she also taught children at church in many capacities such as choir, Sunday school, and nursery.
After retiring from childcare, Tricia devoted herself to serving and caring for her parents, and then her husband, pouring out the love of Jesus on them until their passing. After that, her life was devoted to serving children at the church. She was content to serve others by ministering to their children and thus freeing them to worship, or serve in other ministries of the church.
