Gene Oliver Wheeler

Gene Oliver “Joe” Wheeler, 83, of Lexington passed away on September 14, 2021. Born on April 27, 1938, he was the son of the late James Thomas Wheeler and Alma Milligan Wheeler.

Gene was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed reading the bible every morning with his wife, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a member of Lexington Baptist Church. He retired from ABB after many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Floyd Wheeler, Ruth Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Wheeler; children, Kathy Sisk, Anthony “Tony” Wheeler (Katie); grandchildren, Katie Cooner (Levi), Molly Bureau-Wheeler; great grandchildren, Braelyn Tucker, Diesel Yearwood, Dalton Yearwood; siblings, Ann Pass (Don), David Wheeler (Ann), Ronnie Wheeler; many nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
