Evan Phillip Haggard, cherished son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 28.

Evan was born in Athens, Georgia on May 29, 1992. He attended Oconee County Schools and graduated from North Oconee High School before attending Georgia Southern University. He was employed by the Athens-Clarke County Court Clerk’s Office. Growing up, Evan was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church and most recently was a faithful and active member of Nations Church in Oconee County. He was a longtime mentor to Jayden Billings and became very close to Jayden’s mother and their family over the years as well. Evan’s love for his family, friends, co-workers, church and above all, God, was immeasurable. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nira and Philip Haggard and his maternal grandparents, Audrey and Charles Richardson.

Evan is survived by his parents, Patrick and Beth Haggard; sister, Emily Haggard Peacock (Scott); niece, Audrey Grace; nephew, Miller and his brother, Clark Haggard.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm. All attendants are asked to social distance and wear a mask.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Aaron Chang and the staff at University Cancer and Blood Center, Dr. Cody Gunn and Dr. Lee Chisolm for their treatment, guidance and compassion throughout Evan’s journey.

In lieu of flowers, Evan’s family asks that you consider a donation to Nations Church, 8780 Macon Highway, Athens, GA 30606, designated to the Mentoring Fund for the Benefit of Jayden Billings and others.
