Branson Fowler

Branson Fowler of Watkinsville, Ga passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2021.

Branson was born December 24, 1927 in Danielsville, GA to the late Oscar Haley and Vira Mae Crowe Fowler.

Mr. Fowler was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and received the WWII Victory Medal. During his 3 years in the Navy, he spent time aboard PCS subchaser. The remainder of his time was spent at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois where he met the love of his life, Norma. Branson and Norma married in 1950 and celebrated over 68 years of marriage.

After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Branson went to work at the Georgia Power Company in Athens, GA., where he worked for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and was a regular participant in the annual Georgia Power Company Senior Tournament and a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. He and his wife Norma, were the co-founders of “Happy Squares” square dancing club along with Branson’s oldest brother George and his wife.

Survivors include daughter, Karen (Paul) Rittler of Oxford, GA and son Branson Kenneth of Boerne, Texas; three grandsons, Branson Kenneth Jr., Austin and Dalton; brother Gary Fowler of Danielsville, GA. And many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma, parents, Oscar and Vira Mae Fowler, brother, John Willis Fowler, sister, Ann McComb, brother George A. Fowler and sister Betty Russell.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a private service for immediate family will be held graveside. A memorial service will be planned at a later date to celebrate the life of Branson. In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Foundation .
