Beverly Mae Jensen

November 8, 1939 — January 28, 2023

Hull

Beverly Mae Jensen, 83, of Hull, died on Saturday, January 28, 2023.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Jesse Clarence Phillips and Gladys Mildred Turner Phillips.

Bev and her family lived in multiple states, including Georgia, before finally calling the Athens area home in 2007. She worked as a dance instructor, but Bev was a born performer. She loved everything about dance, music, and singing, and especially enjoyed throwing parties at which she sang and danced for her guests. She had a special love for children, whether her own or not, and babysat and gave countless dance lessons, often for free. Every grandchild’s first gift was a pair of dance shoes. Bev was also a practitioner of homeopathy and holistic medicine and did not see a doctor for over thirty-five years. She cannot be adequately described without mentioning her passion for Chick-fil-A. She and her husband were waiting in line on opening day for the Barnett Shoals Chick-fil-A.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Vernie Phillips, and a brother, Gerald Phillips.

Bev is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Frederick Jensen; children Tim Lhowe (Kristin), Randy Lhowe (Paula), Gary Jensen (Peggy), and Marc Lhowe (Demetria); sister Donna Rae Carriker; 11 grandchildren: Ross, Avery, Nichole, Lauren, Jessi, Rachel, Christopher, Victoria, Jensen, Emma, and Michael; several great-grandchildren; and special friend, Chelsea.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 before the service.

Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA, is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
