Beattie Clayton Graham

Clayton was born in Horry County, South Carolina on December 8, 1940. He passed away at his home in Watkinsville, Georgia on Monday August 8, 2022.

He was the son of Brunson and Lella Graham of Nichols, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Dyar Graham of the home. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a brother, Craig (Nevelda) of Nichols, SC.

He is survived by sons: Stan (Mea) Graham of Smyrna, GA, Steve (Shana) Graham of Cleveland, GA and Alan Graham of Winterville, GA.

He is survived by five grandchildren: Chase (Kayla) Graham of Acworth, GA, Austin Graham of Alpharetta, GA, Cody (Lexi) Graham of Clearwater, FL, Layne Graham of Cleveland, GA and Clay Graham of Athens, GA. and two precious great granddaughters, Kennedy and Palmer Graham.

He was also blessed with a fourth son, Randy Nass, good friend of Stan from Lincoln, NE. He just came to our house and never left, he is indeed our son now of 45 years. Clayton was blessed with six bonus grandchildren: Toni Fagiola, Ferrell Fagiola, Brittan Slayton, Jessy Graham, Madison Nass and Mason Nass.

He was preceded in death by a sister Louise Huggins, brother Bruce Graham and twin brother Dayton Graham.

Mr. Graham graduated from Clemson University in 1962 at which time he joined the United States Air Force. After his tenure from the USAF, he started his career with the US Department of Agriculture as a Soil Conservationist in South Carolina. In 1977, he was appointed as the Assistant State Conservationist in Florence, SC. a position he held until his appointment as Deputy State Conservationist in Lincoln, NE later in 1977. He was then appointed as State Conservationist for the state of Georgia. He held this position until retirement in Athens, GA.

Clayton loved the outdoors and took great pride in his vegetable and flower gardens. He also spent time as family historian, organizing reunions and authoring Family History Books for all four of our families. He will be greatly missed by many people.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening August 11, from 6-8 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home West, followed by a grave side service on Friday August 12 at 2:00pm at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
