Zelma Holman Middlebrook, 94, of Danielsville, passed away on July 16, 2026.

Born on March 21, 1932, in Madison County, GA., she was the daughter of the late William Fred and Nomi Maybelle Hooper Holman.

Born and raised in Madison County, Zelma was a faithful member of Moon’s Grove Baptist Church. Zelma could be found working in her yard and flower gardens on a daily basis. Zelma loved children and became a “grandmother” to many. She also served in the nursery at Moon’s Grove Baptist Church and the Good News Club at Hull Elementary spreading the love of Jesus to children.

Survivors include her siblings, Francine Exner and Fred Holman, Jr.. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Larry Middlebrook; sons John Martin, Lawrence, and Bill Middlebrook; sisters Agnes Harrison and Joanne Bayless; brothers Olen, Charles, Alton, Buford and Larry Holman.

Michael (Anja) Cleveland and Jim Watson became close confidants and caretakers of Zelma after the passing of Larry. She became like a second mother to Michael, always offering love, guidance, and support. Baylee viewed Zelma as another grandmother. Zelma loved her deeply and created special memories with Baylee. For more than 24 years, Michael and Jim were steadfast sources of love, support, and friendship for Zelma.

Delores (Mike) Kennedy was Zelma’s caretaker and they built an unbreakable bond rooted in love and friendship. Delores was her best friend and together they shared countless laughs, heartfelt conversations, and treasured memories. Zelma had a trust and respect with Delores that rivaled that of sisters.

Pallbearers: Mike Kennedy, John Cass, Kevin Rowe, Mike Burroughs, and Tripp, Robert & Henry Strickland.
