Willie Clyde Autry

Willie Clyde Autry, 97, Athens; passed away Saturday, January 18.
Born in Rochelle, Georgia, he was the son of the late Frank and Mamie Texas Thomas Autry. Mr. Autry was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Louise Lindsey Autry, and daughter and son in law Jean and James L. Brooks. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served as the helmsman aboard the USS Ashtabula oil tanker; and a retired mechanic.
Survivors include a son Melvin (Norma) Autry, Athens, and daughter Linda (Bill) Williams, Winterville; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers Frank Autry, Statham and Mitchell Autry, Comer.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, at the chapel of Lord & Stephens, in Danielsville. Interment will be in the Danielsville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
