William "Billy" Colquitt

William (Billy) Colquitt, 75, of Lexington, Ga., passed away on Jan. 8, 2023. Born on Jan. 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Coile and Christine Colquitt.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sandra Colquitt; sons Steven (Paige) of Bogart, Ga., and Brandon (Jessica) of Lexington, Ga.; two grandchildren, Catherine Colquitt and Grant Colquitt, both of Athens, Ga.; and his brother, Joel Colquitt of Athens, Ga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Reynolds.

Billy graduated from Oglethorpe County High School in 1966. He spent four years in the United States Army and later was a reservist. Billy was a devoted family man and cared deeply about his community. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving both fishing and hunting. His fondest times were spent with family and friends at the cabin on Broad River or in the North Georgia mountains.

A family and friends visitation is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14, from 2-4 p.m. in The Lighthouse Methodist Church fellowship hall in Lexington, Ga. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, contributions may be made to the Friends of the Oglethorpe County Library.
