Watkinsville - William Clifford "Wick" Johnson, Jr., 63, husband of Elizabeth Davis Johnson, died Sunday, September 4, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late William Clifford and Kathryn Hodge Johnson, Sr. In addition to his parents, Wick was preceded in death by his sister Ann Johnson Luker.
Wick was a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He and his wife met and were married while both attending Vanderbilt. Wick also graduated high school from Memphis University school.
In June of 2004, he retired from the University of Georgia as an Analytical and Applied Research Chemist in the soil, plant and tissue analysis lab where he worked for 35 years. He was the secretary and treasurer for the American Organization of Analytical Chemists, former member of Campus View Church of Christ where he was the Deacon in Charge of Missions and Song Leader and was a member of Central Oconee Church of Christ where he was the treasurer and song leader.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Davis Johnson; children Michael Johnson of Atlanta, Mary Johnson of Watkinsville; nephew Maurice Sylvester Luker and niece Amy Louise Barrett.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 11 AM at Lord & Stephens, WEST with brothers Maurice Lusk and Tom Torpy officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6p to 8p at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ian Armit, Tom Stephens, Tom Keister, Troy Copeland, Lee Eppley, James Griffith and Dr. Robert Isaac. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Armstrong and Garry Gable.
Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Central Oconee Church of Christ, 2005 Ray's Church Rd., Bishop, GA 30621.
