William James Adams, 91, passed away peacefully at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center on June 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born the oldest son of 6 children on April 16, 1934, to William Buford Adams and Susie Nell Crow Adams in Comer, Georgia.
The family will greet friends at Friendship Baptist Church, Danielsville, Georgia at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 29, 2025. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 P.M with Pastor Jeff Wells and Pastor Jeff Seymour. Interment will immediately follow the service at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
James was known for his unwavering servitude to all in need. He was a proud US Navy veteran, serving his nation in the Korean Conflict, aboard the USS Frank Knox. In his civilian life, his service continued as a dedicated Rotarian. He was active in Rotary as long as he was able, most notably building ramps for individuals in Madison County who developed a need.
James was strong in his Christian faith and loved showing the love of LORD through serving his church family as well. He was a deacon at Union Baptist Church for many years, taught Sunday School and he cared for the widows of the community. Until his death. he was an active member at Friendship Baptist Church.
While most of his time was dedicated to serving others, James also was active in many hobbies. He loved the outdoors where he would fish, hunt, and spend time with his beloved family; especially his grandchildren. Upon retirement, James and Bobbie Jean traveled far and wide in their camper and then on many bus tours with friends. His time outdoors was also dedicated to tending his large garden. He shared his garden as he shared his life; feeding friends, family, and all those in need.
Remarkably, later in life James still had time for his own competitive hobby. He was a highly decorated archer and competed in the Golden Olympics until he was 89 years old. His dedication to his family, life and faith did not dwindle as he aged, and he will be remembered for his devotion by all those who loved him.
Left to cherish the memories they made together are his adoring wife of 67 years, Bobbie Jean Gunnells Adams; his son, Steve Adams of Rome; his daughter, Jan Williams (Randy) of Hull; his daughter, Sandra Seymour (Jeff) of Comer; his son, Greg Adams (Patsy) of Hull; Grandchildren, Robbie Adams (Kalea); Chris Adams (Nicole); Ashley Witcher (Beau); Zack Seymour (Autumn); Caleb Seymour; Tyler Adams (Kelsi Schell); Trey Adams (Kathleen); Amber Williams (Jamie); and one great-grandson, Finn James. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
