William “Rick” Drake, 68 of Comer, GA, passed away July 26, 2026. He was the son of, Charles Estes Drake and Jackie Compton Drake. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clyde Slaton and Celie Lee Slaton; and his maternal grandparents, Lewellyn Talmadge Compton and Thelma Sue Compton.

Funeral service will be Saturday August 1, 2026 2:00 PM at Meadow Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Sarna and Glenn Guest officiating. Mr. Drake will lie in state from 1:00pm until servicetime at the church. The family will visit at the funeral home, Friday July 31, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment, will be in Meadow cemetery.

William "Rick" (affectionately known by some as "Ricky," proudly called "Dad" by his children, and lovingly known as "Papa" by his grandchildren) was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering faith in God, his deep love for his family, and his servant's heart.

For more than 30 years, Rick proudly worked as a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 613. He was respected for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to help others. Although health challenges eventually forced him into an early retirement at the direction of his physicians, he faced those years with courage, perseverance, and the same quiet strength that had always defined his character.

Above all, Rick loved his family. He was a devoted husband who faithfully cared for his wife and found great joy in providing for and taking care of their home and the yard he loved so much. His love was demonstrated daily through his selfless actions, always putting the needs of his family before his own.

To his children, he was simply "Dad"—their protector, provider, teacher, and biggest supporter. He cherished them beyond measure and found great joy in helping them whenever they needed him. Whether it was offering advice, lending a hand, fixing something, or simply being there, they always knew they could count on their dad. His grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Papa," were one of the greatest blessings of his life. He treasured every moment spent with them, delighted in watching them grow, and loved creating memories they will forever hold close to their hearts.

Rick also deeply loved his parents and remained thankful for the values, faith, and work ethic they instilled in him. He shared a close and lasting bond with his brother, and family was always one of the greatest priorities in his life. His extended family meant the world to him, and he never hesitated to help them in any way he could.

His faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. During his healthiest years, he faithfully attended church, where he was honored to serve as a deacon. Serving the Lord and his church family brought him great joy, and he sought to live a life that reflected his faith through kindness, humility, and service to others.

Rick loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing with his children, relaxing at the lake, and enjoying family vacations at the beach. Some of his favorite memories were made around cookouts, family gatherings, and time spent with friends. He had a warm smile, a generous heart, and a wonderful sense of humor that often made him the life of the gathering. If someone needed help, Rick was usually the first person to show up, expecting nothing in return.

Rick's life was a beautiful example of faith, hard work, generosity, humility, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the lives of those he loved so deeply. While his family will miss him beyond words, they find comfort knowing that his faith has become sight and that they will one day be reunited with him. Until then, they will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and love he shared so freely with everyone blessed enough to know him.

Survivors include, his wife, Vicki Drake; William’s Children: Megan Bond (Jason), Will Drake (Leah), Jonathon Drake; Grandkids: Brinley, Mason, Anna, Elliot; Brother: Mike Drake (Lisa); Mike & Lisa’s daughters name: Ginger Hriczo (Nathan)Their kids: Emmi and Elle Hriczo.
