William Edwin Dennis Jr, left this earth on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen, his oldest son, Michael, his parents Edwin and Leola Dennis, and his sister, Evelyn Perry. William is survived by his loving children and many grandchildren: son Walter, his wife Sheila, granddaughter Jessica, grandson William and his wife Tera, great-grandchildren James and Jayna, daughter Denise and her husband Bobby, granddaughter Leah and great-grandchildren Jordan, Wren, Jude; grandson Stephen, granddaughter Savannah, her husband DJ and great-granddaughter Hazel, Michael’s wife Jodie, grandson Jonathan, granddaughter Elizabeth and her husband Mike, and great-grandson Arthur; grandson Bryon Wolf and his wife Allison, and great-grandsons Arlo and Vega. He is also survived by his twin brother, Willard Dennis and his wife, Patricia, of Kershaw, SC. He will be missed by many more relatives and friends.
Bill was born on September 27, 1930, along with his twin brother Willard, to Edwin and Leola Dennis. The boys were later joined by a younger sister, Evelyn. He spent his early years in the Florida Keys, moving to Georgia as a teenager. There, he met the love of his life, Helen Kent; they married and began their family in Warner Robbins, GA. In about 1965 they moved to Ohio, where they lived and raised their children for 35 years. In 2002 they moved to Vero Beach, FL. They enjoyed retired life and spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill worked for the Army Air Corp as a teenager, and enlisted in the Navy during the Korean conflict. Afterwards, he accepted a position as a civil servant with the US Air Force for the remainder of his government career. He was widely traveled both within the U.S. and abroad, thanks to his job. In later years, after he had retired from civil service, he worked consulting jobs all over the country – taking Helen with him from then on.
Bill was a loving husband and a loving, engaged father; a Scoutmaster, and the go-to bicycle fixer in his neighborhood in Huber Heights, Ohio. He loved to fish, and his knowledge of all the good fishing spots led many to dub him the family fishfinder. He was an avid mechanic and spent many hours in the garage with his sons and their friends, fixing and improving their cars. He was also quite good at home repair and improvement, and he seemed able to fix anything. His children and grand-children are quite certain he was capable of anything. He could tell a story better than anyone…and his tales of the pranks and adventures of his childhood and teen years with his twin were epic.
Bill was buried at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on August 10, 2026.
