Wayne Lowell Davis, 80, of Athens, GA passed away peacefully at home Saturday, August 31 following an extended illness. He was surrounded by loved ones.
He was the son of the late Ray and Rua Davis of Washington, GA. Wayne was born in Robbinsville, NC. His family spent time in Newberry, SC before moving to Washington, GA where he went to high school. He had lived in Athens for the last 30 years.
Wayne was preceded in death by a son, W. Lowell Davis Jr., a daughter Meghan Davis and brother-in-law Bob Kirkland of Washington, GA.
Wayne is survived by his partner in life of 36 years, Vicki Lee, daughter Kristan Davis and son Philip Davis. Grandchildren: Laura, Nicholas, Caleb, Conor, Alyse and Lincoln. Sisters: Eloise (Bill) Conner of Clayton, GA, Judy Kirkland and Peggy (John) Jones of Washington, GA. Wayne is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne enjoyed all sports and playing cards. He loved his family unconditionally and was affectionately called Papa Wayne by his grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 3, 11:00 am at the Crawford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Family Hospice of Athens, 624 S. Milledge Ave Suite 101, Athens, GA 30605.
