Athens - Mrs. Virginia Morgan, 86, of Athens, GA died Wednesday, June 29, 2005.
Born in Jackson, GA on August 19, 1918 and raised in Madison, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Eulalie Greer McDowell. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Tom A. Dover of Athens, GA and Charles W. Morgan of Long Island, NY. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Michael McDowell and sister, Margaret Maxwell.
Mrs. Morgan lived in and raised her family in Athens until moving to Sea Island, GA in 1980. She returned home to Athens in October of 2004. Mrs. Morgan was a life long member of the Episcopal Church. During her life in Athens, she was an active member of the Athens Garden Club, Athens Junior Assembly and Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lee Giffen of Valdosta, GA. Other survivors include her son, Tom Dover and his wife, Amy of Athens, GA; daughter, Greer Dover and friend, Frank Walker of Dahlonega, GA and son, J. C. Dover of Maylene, AL; grandchildren, Margaret Dover of Athens, Eric Dover of Madison, GA, Jeffrey and Lauren Rountree of Jefferson, GA, Gregory Rountree and fiancÈ, Crystal Weaver of Athens, GA, Jesse and Dana Dover of Oakwood, GA, Woody and Jenn Dover of Birmingham, AL and Allen Williams of Augusta; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Morgan is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 11:30 AM from the graveside in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Father Ralph Marsh will officiate.
