Virginia Ethel Melton

Virginia Ethel Melton, 87, of Comer, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna Burnett. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Melton; her children, Larry Butler and Kay Wood; and her brother-in-law, Dub Melton.

Virginia was a faithful Christian who read her Bible every day. She loved working puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family. She shared her love of cooking with others during her many years as a cook at Aunt B's Restaurant in Athens.

She is survived by her children, Patty Ogle, Donald Butler, and Jimmy Melton; her sister-in-law, Betty Melton; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
