Velma Faye Barber
June 2, 1945 — December 31, 2025
Velma Faye Barber, 80, wife of the late Marvin Kennon Barber, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Born in Jackson County, GA, she was the daughter of the late John H. McElreath and Thelma D. Bowman McElreath. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Meeler and stepdaughter, Rachel Tapley. Velma worked as a cashier at Bells and Publix. She was a longtime member of Rays Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Stacy (Jennifer) Barber, Tim Meeler, Mike (Jeanine) Meeler, Mike (Pam) Barber and Mark (Cheri) Barber; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the gravesite.
