Athens - Sybil Maxey Jones Lucas, 71, died August 16, 2005.
A native of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Mildred Hinesley Maxey, and the widow of Thurman Hollis Lucas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Maxey Crowe; grandson, Haven Thornton, and great-grandson, Chance Slocumb. She was a 1951 graduate of Bogart High School and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Rev. Elmer Butler will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include five children, Debbie Bennett of Unicoi, TN, Marshall "Marc" Jones of Athens, Chuck Jones of Danielsville, Craig Jones of Athens, and Michelle McClung of Loganville; three sisters, Shirley Maxey Patterson of Atlanta, Betty Whatley Maxey of Maysville, Brenda Maxey Bales of Watkinsville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
