Suzanne Lockhart Bell, cherished wife, mother, Nana, Gran-Nana and Aunt Boo, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Tell City, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late J.B. and Marie Lindsey. Suzanne was a faithful member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church since 1964. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, active member of United Methodist Women and volunteered with numerous organizations within the church. She was employed for several years as an Executive Assistant at the Ramada Inn and then retired from Fowler Drive Elementary as a Secretary. Suzanne often volunteered with St. Mary’s Hospital and The Classic Center and most importantly, she was an incredible wife and mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Lockhart and her sister, Katheryne Wilson Gillen.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Bell and his children, Robert and Linda Bell and their son, Eli; daughters, Kathy Lester and her husband, Robert; Cindy Hartman and her husband, Tim; and Cristy Lockhart and her dog, Oliver; grandchildren, James Lester (Julee Fuller), Matthew Lester (Laura Ashley), Savannah Hartman and Leah Hartman; great-granddaughters, Charlotte Lester and Vivienne Lester; nephew, Ron Wilson and his wife, Vanessa and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Suzanne’s longtime NP, Christa Teasley; hospice nurses, Cindy Parrish and Carnesha Green and the staff at Haven Memory Care and Trinity Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chapelwood United Methodist Church Children’s Ministries at 100 Janice Drive, Athens, GA 30606.
A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Evergreen Memorial Park and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
