Steve "Sonny" Milton Shelton, Jr.

Steve Milton “Sonny” Shelton, Jr., 43, of Statham, GA, husband of David Alexander Baker, died on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Born in Athens, GA he was the son of Steve Milton Shelton, Sr. of Watkinsville the late Ida Lynn Shelton. Sonny was last employed by Barrow County 911 as a Communications Officer. He worked as a Paramedic for 13 years with Athens Regional, St. Mary’s, National EMS, Oglethorpe, Jackson County, Grady Health Systems, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Barrow County. He was also an adjunct faculty member at Athens Technician College training the next generation of paramedics entering the field. He took pride in serving his community and being there when people needed him most.

In addition to his husband and father, survivors include his son and daughter that he adored; Bradyn Shelton and Blakely Shelton; one sister and her husband: Kristy and Joey Adcock and their children: Gavin, Kailey and Dylan Adcock.

A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. Interment will follow at Johnson United Methodist Church Cemetery.
