Steven Franklin “Frank” Abney, 60, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away surrounded by his family on June 25th, 2026 after a 3 year battle with cancer.
Frank was born January 29th, 1966 to Sherrill and Kay Abney in Athens, GA. Frank graduated from Valdosta High School in 1984, where he was captain of a state championship winning football team. In 1989, he received a degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Industrial Engineering. He later received his law degree from Georgia State University in 1998. Frank had a successful career in the telecom industry for 37+ years and was an avid golfer. Frank loved his family dearly and was a great friend to have. His favorite role was being a grandfather “Jeep” to his grandsons.
He is survived by his fiancé Jennifer Crisp, his children Annalise Espy and her husband Caleb, Sterling Abney, Samson Abney, and their mother Amy Shannon Scarborough, his parents Sherrill and Kay, his grandsons Cash and Cade Espy, his brother Neil Abney, and his nieces and nephew Laura, Nick, and Natalie Abney.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Garnett and Lois Lowe, grandparents Raiden and Frances Abney, and son Steven Fordham Abney.
A memorial service will be held at Corinth Baptist Church, 2040 Belmont Rd, Arnoldsville, GA at 4pm on Sunday, June 28th. The family invites all who knew Frank to join them for visitation prior to the service at the church cabin from 2-4pm.
