Dr. Stephen Douglas Floyd, 47, of Watkinsville, Georgia, died on September 20, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Asher Floyd, his son, Daniel Jackson Floyd, and his daughter, Emily Elise Floyd.
Dr. Floyd graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 and from The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta in 1984. He established Oconee Pediatrics in 1988 and has worked as a pediatrician in Watkinsville ever since. Dr. Floyd has been actively involved as an elder at Christ Church Presbyterian for many years.
Dr. Floyd was such a man of integrity; a man who loved God and put Him first in everything; a husband and father who loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed them; a pediatrician who loved his patients and served them well; an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt and ride horses; a man who loved music and recently learned to play the dulcimer. He was so full of life and will be greatly missed by so many people.
A native of Cedartown, Georgia, Dr. Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Jackson Floyd. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Ann Floyd of Cedartown; his two sisters, Sandra McNally of Cedartown and Jan Floyd of Lilburn; one brother, Tommy Floyd of Powder Springs.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Watkinsville First Baptist Church, 1610 Simonton Bridge Road, Watkinsville, GA. Rev. Matt Adair will officiate. Burial services will follow at 4:30 PM at Greenwood Cemetery on East Avenue in Cedartown, Georgia. The family will also receive friends at a reception on Friday, September 23, from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Watkinsville First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christ Church Mercy Fund, 1640 New High Shoals Road, Watkinsville, Georgia, 30677.
