Sonia M. Adsit (89), mother extraordinaire, farmer, community volunteer, and nature lover passed away on November 9, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton E. Adsit; her brother, Allan O. Mogensen; and her parents, Allan H. Mogensen, and Adele Dean Mogensen.
A memorial celebration service will be held on December 1, 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2535 Jefferson Road, Athens, GA 30607 with a reception following at the church, 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
A native of Rochester, NY, Sonia graduated from Cornell University with a degree in English. She was a mother to many, a farm manager, and active in many community organizations: Kiwanis, Clarke-Oconee Cattlemen's Association, the AVMA Auxiliary. She served many years on the Oconee County Planning Commission. She was a founding member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served with the Stephen Ministry there.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: Penny, Russell, Karen (Keith Wilkinson), Phillip (Jenny Mercuri), and Andrew (Kim). She also is survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a menagerie of animals.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
