Sharon Shouse

Sharon Zehnder Shouse, of Athens, GA, passed away on March 23, 2023.

The daughter of the late Martin Dominick Zehnder and Almena Borden Schwoeppe, Sharon moved to Athens 49 years ago from her place of birth in Louisville, KY. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a devout follower of her faith. She spent many years as an elementary school teacher and was happily married for 53 years. Spending time at the beach was one of her favorite pastimes, though being a mother and “Nani” to her six grandchildren was her life’s greatest joy.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father and mother, and brother Martin D. Zehnder, Jr. Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard D. Shouse, son, Richard Michael Shouse, daughter, Amy S. Russell (Ben), and son, Major Kevin M. Shouse, US Army (Katherine), and brother, Stephen G. Zehnder.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 31, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the Mass in the Parish Hall.
