Athens, GA - Sara Stewart Wages, 82, died March 10, 2011.
Born in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah James and Nay Hami Gunter Stewart and was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Wages, Jr.
Mrs. Wages was a lifelong resident of this area and retired from UGA/Georgia Center For Continuing Education.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Pastor Rick Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Bethaven Cemetery (Nowhere Road).
Pallbearers will be Ken Mize, Gabe Lewis, Trenton Hooper, Robbie Crook, Josh Brudon and Donnie Burroughs.
Survivors include her children, Elaine Wages Rousey, of Cornelia, Ga., Catherine Wages Smith and husband, Jimmy, of Madison, Ga., Darrel L. Wages and wife, Beth, of Colbert, Donna Wages Fields and husband, Greg, of Athens, Melissa Wages Lewis and husband, Rick, of Nicholson; siblings, Ruth Human of Athens, Frances Duckworth of Colbert and Jimmy Stewart of Texas; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
