Mrs. Sara Lord Brown,72, of Colbert entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2024. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. Lord and Inez Booth Lord, a brother, Robert Lord, Jr., and a stepmother, Margaret Lord.
Sara is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Freddie L. Brown. She is also survived by three children, Robby Brown (Tina) of Danielsville, Lori Barron (Brady) of Winder, and Toby Brown (Heather) of Sanford; eight grandchildren, Kent Brown (Ali), Karis Smith (Jordan), Carter Barron (Demiah), Chance Barron, Caylan Barron, Chase Barron, Cooper Brown, and Cohen Brown; one great grandchild, Wesley Brown; two sisters, Betty Saville of Commerce and Patricia A. Evans of Danielsville.
Sara is a graduate of Madison County High School and earned a BSN from New York University. She was a hard-working and devoted nurse for over fifty years having worked at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens Orthopedic Clinic, and for the past 34 years with Doctors McDonald and Manus. She leaves a legacy of compassion and excellence in nursing which was recently recognized by the naming of the Sara L. Brown, RN Surgical Suite at McDonald and Manus.
Sara was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Danielsville where she served as a Sunday School teacher and often on the missions committee. She combined her heart for missions and nursing by using her gifts on mission trips to Haiti, Bolivia, Guyana, and Honduras.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Trinity Baptist, 2411 Hwy 29 North, Danielsville, GA on Saturday, November 30 at 3:00PM with Reverends Robby Brown, Kent Brown, and Ben Smith officiating. The family will receive friends before the service at the church beginning at 1:30. A private burial will be held with the family at a different time.
Sara’s family would like to express special thanks to St. Mary’s Hospice, especially the compassionate care provided by Priscilla, Becky, and Robin. Special thanks are also extended to the Trinity Baptist Family for their loving support and constant prayers.
