Athens - Sally Evon Meachen Drewry passed away peacefully on September 25, 2005 after a brief illness.
Born to Jerome and Mildred Durrett Meachen in Oklahoma City, and the widow of George H. Drewry, she was a longtime resident of Athens. Savannah was her home from 1979-1982. Sally will be remembered by many Athenians as a paraprofessional for kindergarten classes at Barrow and Whit Davis Elementary Schools. She spent many years serving Athensís elderly through the Council on Aging. Sally loved gardening, traveling and being with her family, friends and cat.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Drewry of Bishop and Patricia Johnson and husband Alan of Mooresville, NC; sons, George Drewry and wife Catherine of Crawford, GA and Robert Drewry and wife Angie of Guyton, GA; brother, Jerome Meachen and wife Marie of Winooski, VT; grandchildren, Angela Zenus and husband, Stephen, Jeremiah and Andrew Johnson, Michelle, John, and Sarah Drewry, McGowan Drewry; great-granddaughter, Kendall Zenus and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 1:00 PM at St. Gregory The Great Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Athens Community Council on Aging.
