Sally Ann Ruark Gouge

Sally Ann Ruark Gouge, 82, fo Athens, GA died on Saturday, May 23, 2026. 

Born in Washington, Georgia, she was the daugher of the late H. E. Ruark and Ida Kate Childs Ruark. Mrs. Gouge was a graduate of the University of Georgia and retired in 2003 from the Athens Clarke County School System, where she worked as a Teachers Aide with the Rutland Program. Prior to working in the school system, she worked as a social worker in Georgia. Mrs. Gouge was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens for fifty-one years. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved reading and made everyone welcome in her home. 

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Gerald Van "Jerry" Gouge; daughter, Marianne Gouge and brother, Michael E. Ruark. 

A Memorial Gathering will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST with visitation from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Dr. Matt Marston will be providing the devotional.
