Ruth E. Gunter

Ruth E. Gunter, 89, died December 28, 2023.

A native of Macon County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Virge and Annie Mae Chastain Vinson and the widow of Malvin D. Gunter. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Naugle.

Ruth lived in Athens since 1965 and was a schoolteacher for many years in Clarke County. She was an active member of Christian Life Worship Center.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Christian Life Worship Center.

Survivors include three children, Cheryl Cheatham of Watkinsville, Michael Gunter and Cynthia Gunter, both of Athens; two sisters, Martha Hollingsworth of Marietta and Rosaline Scarboro of Athens; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
