Ruth Bernice George

Ruth Bernice George, 82, of Winterville, died on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Born in Conemaugh, PA to Michael Komisar and Ruth Mae Finan, Bernice lived in Pennsylvania and Michigan before relocating to Georgia with her family in 1986. She received an associate degree from Southwestern Michigan College and worked as a bookkeeper. Her longest employment was with Loef-Blumberg Realty in Athens, where she worked as bookkeeper and manager of the company’s many properties. Bernice was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and volunteered with St. Joseph’s Charities.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allan George.

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Kim (Ken) Fowler, and grandchildren Emily (Andrew) Read and Benjamin (Stephanie) Fowler.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.
