Russell “Russ” Glenn Dunn, 63, of Colbert, GA, died on March 18, 2024.
Russ was born in Elberton on October 2, 1960 to parents E. Malrey Dunn and Carolyn Partain Dunn. He graduated from Elbert County High School and the University of Georgia and served his country in the US Army as an Infantry Airborne Ranger. He managed multiple granite quarries, owned C & M Dunn Explosives Incorporated, and was a safety instructor for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Russ enjoyed fishing, water sports, volleyball, spending time with friends, was an avid reader, and devoted Georgia Bulldog fan. After retiring, Russ developed a love for woodworking, creating unique gifts for friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, E. Malrey Dunn; brother, Charles Dunn; brother-in-law, Sam Long III; and father-in-law, Sam Long.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dunn; mother, Carolyn Dunn of Elberton, GA; sister, Joyce Walker (David) of Fortson, GA; brother, Jeffrey Dunn (Susan) of Bowman, GA; sisters-in-law: Tammy Clark (Buddy) of Daytona, FL, Linda Guyer (John) of Royston, GA. Sandy Harrison (Mark) of Fair Play, SC, Valary Dreyer (Russ) of Daniel Island, SC, Andrea Long of Conover, NC; brothers-in-law: Emory Anderson (Sherry) of Elberton, GA and Jamey Smith (Heather) of Hiram, GA; mother-in-law, Marilee Long of Watkinsville, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and furry friends, Karl and Tucker.
A funeral service is not planned at this time.
