Robert Gerald “Bob” Nazworth was born December 31, 1934 in Tampa, Florida and passed away April 12, 2026 in Athens, GA. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by quiet strength, steady dedication and a genuine love of family, business, working with his hands and being outdoors.
After high school, Bob proudly served his country. He briefly served in the National Guard and then in the U.S. Navy, serving on active duty from 1954 to 1957 and in the reserves until 1960. He went on to build a long career in finance and lending, beginning with GAC in 1960, then Westinghouse Credit in 1971, and then Chrysler First Wholesale Credit in 1979, before retiring in 1989 as President. He then came out of retirement to serve as President of U Can Rent, a role he held until his final retirement in 1999. Throughout his career, he was respected for his leadership, business acumen, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Bob took great pride in caring for his home and yard, spending countless hours landscaping and tending to his gardens. He also found great joy in talking with the many neighbors and dog-walkers who would pass by the house daily. An avid golfer and a natural handyman, he was always ready to lend a helping hand or take on a new project, generously sharing his time and skills with family and friends.
He was married to his beloved wife, Melba Jean (Campbell) Nazworth, for 66 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and unwavering support. Bob is survived by Melba and his sons, David Alan (Katrina) Nazworth and Michael Andrew (Jessica) Nazworth, as well as four grandchildren - Brandon Tyler Nazworth, Amanda Kristina Nazworth, Olivia Layton, and Parker Cheek - who all brought him immense pride and joy.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Nazworth and Martha “Mattie” Louise (Sapp) Nazworth, and his brothers, Alton Eugene Nazworth and James Edward Nazworth.
Robert Gerald “Bob” Nazworth will be remembered for his kindness, steadfast dedication, and gentle willingness to help others. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the legacy of love, hard work, and integrity he leaves behind.
