Robert Lee Mathews

Robert Lee Mathews, 72, of Crawford, GA died on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Born in Athens, GA he was the son of the late Loyd Evess Mathews and Pauline McCannon Mathews. Robert retired from Bell’s Grocery Store as the produce manager and had worked as the warehouse manager for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Crawford Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Pamela Fortson Mathews; two children: Clayton “Clay” (Satilla) Mathews and Elizabeth “Beth” (Rayburn) Shelnutt; brother: Douglas Mathews; grandchildren: Joe Travis “JT” Mathews and Khloe Shelnutt and as well as a his extended family and close friends. A service celebrating Robert’s life will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 3PM at Crawford Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2PM until 3PM prior at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crawford Baptist Church or Summit Ridge Hospital in Lawrenceville, GA.
