Robert “Bob” Lafferty, 83, passed away on August 12, 2026 at home after a brief illness.

Bob was born January 18, 1943 in Hutchinson, KS to Harold and Opal Lafferty. He attended Windom High School, then Emporia State University. He worked in sales for Coleman, then Lennox, living in Arizona then settling in Georgia. He took early retirement due to a condition called Spasmodic Dysphonia, for which he received several Botox treatments at Vanderbilt University. He learned to embrace his new voice, which remained a strong whisper.

Bob spent the last six years under the care of his daughters after a Dementia diagnosis. He thrived while helping his son-in-law do farm and garden chores and enjoyed life surrounded by his family. He loved football season, cheering on the Dawgs and Falcons. Bob was a private and quiet man with an undeniable wit and a love of home cooked meals and Dairy Queen blizzards.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Melissa (Ernie) Veal, Bishop, GA and Chrissy Kirby, Dallas, GA; four grandchildren, Berkeley and Caulder Veal, and Colson and Kinley Kirby; his oldest brother, Keith Lafferty, Inman, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jim Lafferty; three sisters, Sharon Lafferty, Doris Richards and Vila Cooper.

A private seaside ceremony will take place at a later date where he and his beloved cat of 18 years, Oliver, will be laid to rest together.

Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite animal rescue or shelter.

Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
