Robert Jesse Drew, born March 31, 1964, in Augusta, Georgia, passed away on October 10, 2025.
Robert lived a life defined by service, honor, and integrity. He proudly served his country for more than thirty-five years in the United States Army, retiring with the distinguished rank of Sergeant First Class. During his remarkable career — spanning thirty-five years, one month, and nine days — Robert served over twenty years with the 878th Combat Engineers and later with the 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery. His dedication and courage carried him through deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, where he served heroically.
Over his career, Robert earned 35 distinguished recognitions, including the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) and four Combat Army Commendation Medals (ARCOM), reflecting his exemplary leadership, bravery, and devotion to duty.
Robert attended Georgia Southern University and played football during his college years, displaying the same grit and teamwork that would define his military service.
After retiring from the Army, Robert and his beloved wife of 35 years, Shannon, devoted their time to working side by side on their family farm which they always referred to as “God’s Country” and their slice of heaven — a reflection of their partnership and shared values of hard work, loyalty, and love.
Robert will be remembered as a loving and protective husband, a devoted brother, and a true American patriot. He is survived by his wife, Shannon L. Drew; his siblings, Howard A. (Deborah) Drew, Jr., Charles C. Drew, Brenda J. Miller, Patty A. (Stan) Grenke, and Dolly M. (Sam) Partin; his brother-in-law, Wendell (Angela) Strickland; his sister-in-law, Pamela (Jim) Retter; his mother-in-law, Martha D. Strickland; and five cherished nieces and nephews.
