Robert Albert Bentley, 69, of Athens, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 26, 2025.Born in Decatur, he was a son of the late James Hiram Bentley and Alva Osborne Bentley. As the son of a Pearl Harbor survivor, Mr. Bentley was always interested in the history of World War II. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved watching The Andy Griffith Show. Mr. Bentley retired as Vice President of Operations from Taylors Iron after more than 20 years of employment. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Bentley.
Survivors include his wife, Chyrle L. Bentley; children, Donald Bentley (Hailei), William "Bill" Bentley (Melissa) and Tabatha Kelley (Marty); siblings, David Bentley (Patricia), Ann Bell (Wayne) and Lynn Bentley; grandchildren, Will, Willow, Abby, Laney and Brody; dear family friend, Natalie Beavers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, West. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FFA Wildlife Camp,720 FFA/FHA Camp Road, Covington, GA 30014.
