Born in Winterville, GA, he was the youngest son of the late George W. Spivey and Willie Hardeman Spivey. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baking, working in his garden and spending time with his friends; but nothing was more important than spending time with his loving family.

Survivors include his daughter Debbie Spivey (Jeff Watts); and brother, Lammie Spivey; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Richard Spivey is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Earline Bates Spivey; sisters Lillian Peterman and Merle White; and brothers Robert Spivey, Roy Spivey, Frank Spivey, Edgar Spivey, and Talmage Spivey.

Funeral services for Mr. Spivey will be held Thursday October 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM, Lord and Stephens East. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Marvin Slay, Thurmond L. Turman and Gene Fields will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank his aide, Tiffany Hamilton, for all the love and care she has provided to him.
