Irelle Long Glenn, 92, of Danielsville, wife of the late Earl Langlin Glenn, died on Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
A native and life-long resident of Madison County, Mrs. Glenn was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Ina Mae McGarity Long. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Glenn Brown, and sister, Virginia Matthews. She retired from the USDA/ASCS Madison County office and was a long-time member of Danielsville United Methodist Church, in which she was very active.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Phyllis) Glenn, of Watkinsville; daughter, Malinda (Rex) Glenn Matthews, of Hull; son-in-law, Brooks Brown, of Washington; grandchildren, Glenn (Cheryl) Brown, Katie Brown, Thad (Amy) Brown, Josh (Leigh) Glenn, Mary Glenn (Bo) Boykin, Amanda McWaters, Meggan (David) Carroll, and Wayne Matthews; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, at Lord & Stephens, in Danielsville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 13, at Danielsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. The pallbearers will be Larry Pierce, Pat Graham, George Elrod, Bob Pendleton, Robert George Strickland Jr., Robert George Strickland III, Glenn Dillard Jr., Donald Segers, and Rick Ryder. The honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hamil Murray and the members of the United Methodist Women and Faith and Unity Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Danielsville United Methodist Church.
