R. Caiphas Thomason

R. Caiphas Thomason, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Laura and Joe Thomason. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War and he retired from Oliver Rubber Company after 35 years of employment. Caiphas came from a very large, close family and he loved staying in touch with them. In his 30 plus years of retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard and always had a very productive summer garden. Most importantly, he was a Christian man who loved his church family and lived his life as an example of Christian love.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jacqueline Thomason; daughter, Gina Dillard of Winterville; grandsons, Justin (Jenny) Dillard of Royston, GA and Brett Dillard of Toccoa, GA; great-granddaughters, Autumn and Scarlett Dillard; sisters, Geraldine Allen and Eva Craft and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Louise Thomason, Buddy and Irene Thomason, Aubrey and Anna Thomason and Rev. W.D. and Jackie Thomason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Johnny Dillard; sisters, Laura “Boots” Berryman and Candice Thomason and brothers, W.O. Thomason and Walter Thomason.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Union Christian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
