Rachel Adkins passed away on March 27, 2026, at The Haven of Cedar Shoals in Athens, Georgia at the age of 91. She was raised in Stephens, Georgia by the late RH and Janie Sanders. She married Willie Howard Adkins of Maxeys and that is where they built their life together. They had 4 children: Bruce Adkins, Jan (Paul) Elm, Gary (Vicki) Adkins and Charlotte Strauss.

Rachel was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Lexington, Georgia. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and putting together puzzles.

Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Willie Howard and siblings Lewis, Joyce and Jerry Sanders.

Rachel's grandchildren include Alex (Ben) Langley, Ben (Rebecca) Adkins, Jessica Austin, Matt Adkins, Sam (Chasity) Moon, Gretchen Elm, Logan Strauss and Katie Strauss. Her great grandchildren include Roslyn, Emmett, Benji, Reagan and Liam.

Rachel will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew her.

A graveside service will be held at Salem Baptist Church in Lexington, Georgia on March 31, 2026, at 2:00pm. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the graveside service in the ARC at Salem Baptist Church.
