Phil Joseph Thomas, 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2025.
Born in Athens, he was the only son of Aubrey Thomas and Annette Dobbs Thomas. Phil felt the hand of God on his life at the early age of 14 when he began his battle with brain tumors throughout his life to the end. He was a humble man, and he loved the Lord. Phil was a lifelong member of Vineyards Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for some years and for many years as a Deacon. In his earlier years, he was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He loved going on walks with his beloved dog, Buddy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Thomas.
Survivors include his sisters, Lydia Chitwood and Norma Hart “Poozie” (Randy); nieces, Gretchen Guest (Allen) and Candice Dutton (Scott) and great-nephews, Carter and Grant Guest and Conner and Carson Dutton.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Buster Brown officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vineyards Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 183, Comer, GA 30629.
