Peggy Jackson Brannen, beloved wife and mother, ran into the loving arms of Jesus on February 5, 2026.
Peggy was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in the Morrow area. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Florence Jackson and a beloved sister to Nancy Godwin (Robert), Kim Jackson, and Craig Jackson.
She graduated from Jonesboro High School in the class of 1970 and worked in several administrative roles throughout her career, speaking most fondly of her many years with the Henry County Planning and Zoning Department, where she formed meaningful relationships and took pride in her work.
Soon after high school, Peggy met the love of her life, Lewis Brannen. They were married on September 23, 1979, beginning a devoted partnership marked by love, faith, perseverance and deep commitment to family. Together they raised two children, Nicholas and Kelly, in McDonough, Georgia, where they lived for many years. Recently, they moved to Athens, GA to be closer to their family, a season that brought her great joy.
Peggy delighted in watching her grandchildren, Will, Molly Jane, Henry, and Annie Katherine, play sports and cheering on her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. She loved sunflowers, time with family, a good laugh, and a warm hug. Though gentle and kind, she was also funny and sassy, known for her quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners. She had a way of making people feel loved, welcomed, and seen. She was also known for her legendary meatloaf.
Above all else, Peggy loved her Lewis, her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was deep, steady, and evident in the way she lived, marked by gratitude, humility, and quiet trust in the Lord. Despite a life that was marked by significant physical and medical hardships, Peggy never complained. Instead, she consistently counted her blessings and remained a source of joy to those around her.
Peggy will be remembered as a woman who lived with grace, endured with faith, loved deeply, and left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. Her life pointed consistently to the goodness of God, and her legacy will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 165 Pulaski Street, Athens, Georgia. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, consider donating to: National Kidney Foundation or Westminster Christian Academy (wcalions.org/support/)
