Paulette Allen Moon

Paulette Allen Moon of Colbert, Georgia passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026. She was born on July 5, 1946, in Athens, Georgia, the daughter of Titus Allen and Lucille “Bud” Drake Allen, both of whom preceded her in death. During her childhood she lived in communities across Clarke County and Greene County, Georgia, where she graduated from Greene County High School in 1964.

She is survived by her children: Anthony “Tony” Moon, Carlton, GA; Suzanne “Suzy” Moon, Comer, GA; Jonathan “Jon” Moon (Nicole), Talmo, GA; Jason Moon, Carlton, GA; Cynthia “Cyndi” Moon (Haley Neal), Colbert, GA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nick Moon (Elley) and Cole Moon; Chasity Jordyn Moon (Samantha), Logan Burgess (Michaela), and Ethan Burgess; Megan Sorrow (Justin), Christian Moon, Jonas Moon, and Ian Moon; Cameron Stevenson (Brittany), Cortney Stevenson, and Eden (Alice) Brown.

Her great‑grandchildren include: Braxton, Bryson, and Bailynn Sorrow; Liam Moon; Blake Burgess; Arin and Kian Moon.

She is survived by two sisters: Floretta Thomas of Indian Trail, NC; Lorraine “Doodle” Allen of Athens, GA. She was predeceased by her brother, Aubrey Allen, and by her half‑siblings Billy Allen and Shirley Dills.

Paulette began her career with Southern Bell at the age of 19 and retired from BellSouth in 1996, where she gained many lifelong friends. She had many interests, but her most cherished pursuit was genealogy. She contributed extensively to the RootsWeb project in Jackson County, Georgia, maintaining a genealogy website that helped countless families trace their heritage. She had a deep love for sharing the story of generations past, preserving family history, and helping others discover their roots. She was also a notable historian of the Whitehall community in Athens, Georgia, dedicating her time to documenting and preserving its history for future generations.

She loved and was loved by many, with a quick wit and a positive, encouraging outlook. She faced life’s trials with strength and was a constant source of support to those around her. Her greatest passion was her family, who will always cherish her memory and deeply feel her loss.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens East, starting at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
