Patsy Ann Pickle Carithers, 80, of Hull, Georgia, passed away November 7, 2025.
She was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi to her parents Oliver Wendell Pickle and Alice Hodge Pickle. In 1964 she married John Henley Carithers, her husband of 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son Jason John Carithers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric Carithers and Carla Adams of Sylacauga, Alabama; and great-nephew, Jared William Conrad Adams, also of Sylacauga, Alabama.
Pat earned a Master's of Science degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Georgia, and subsequently worked in the Plant Disease Laboratory. Later she and John owned and operated Carithers Custom Assays in Danielsville, Georgia. They farmed his family's land for their entire marriage, including operating Neese Peaches in the early 1990's. She also obtained her real estate license.
Pat was very devoted to her community. She participated in many organizations in Madison County. For several years, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Madison County Library, and in 1995 chaired the same board. She was instrumental in building the library's current facility and the later addition. She also was a member of, and served as an officer of, the Friends of the Library, the Broad River Watershed Association, and the Pilot Club. She was an Elder of Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church in Ila, Georgia.
Pat was a voracious reader, loved nature, art, and had an active social life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 11 am, at Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church, Ila, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church.
