Patricia “Pat” West Jameson, 77, of Athens, GA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 9, 2026. Pat was born in Daytona Beach, FL, on March 19, 1949, to the late Sam and Sarah West. Being part of a Navy family, they moved to Jacksonville, FL, to be with her grandparents, then to Boston, Massachusetts. From there, she continued her journey to the Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and finally settled in Macon, Ga, from 10th grade on.

Upon completion of her time at the University of Georgia (1967-72), Pat began her illustrious career in music education, inspiring youth throughout the Athens Area for many years, including Commerce HS, Clark Middle School, Hilsman Middle School, where she taught for more than 25 years, Coile Middle School, Barrow County Middle School, and Piedmont College. After retirement, Pat finished out her music education career as a part-time band instructor at St. Joseph’s Catholic School. In addition, Pat was the Choir Director and organist with First Christian Church for over 29 years and continued playing piano for Princeton UMC.

When Pat was not working in service for others, she remained quite active, enjoying playing tennis and bunco with her closest friends, or a competitive match of ping pong with her children and grandchildren, which she always won! Having spent a great deal of time at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, Pat fell in love with her home away from home, Traverse City, Michigan, where she enjoyed biking, kayaking, and concerts.

All other passions and activities paled in comparison to the love that she had for her 7 grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mimi. Always going the extra mile to show her love and support, Mimi made them the focus of her life.

Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy West. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Philip Jameson, her children Bonnie Jameson Greenbaum (Jordan), Becky Jameson Horner (Tom), Mary Jameson Presnell, and John Philip Jameson, as well as her 7 grandchildren, Alyse Greenbaum, Maggie Horner, Harris Greenbaum, Tommy Horner, Sarah Horner, Boone Presnell, and Anna Presnell. She also leaves behind dear family members in Ohio and Macon.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 13, 2026, at First Christian Church of Athens at 2 pm. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Princeton United Methodist Church and the First Christian Church of Athens.
