Patricia Ann Hanson, 80, of Athens, passed away on April 11, 2026.
Born on April 12, 1945, in Clarke County GA., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Ruth Long. On April 12,1963 Patricia married the love of her life, Gary Hanson, at the young age of 18. They have spent the last 63 years making beautiful memories together. She found joy in hosting family gatherings with a love for cooking. Having Sunday dinners every week was her favorite. “Patricia was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and VFW organizations, and often participated in their social and charity events. She was the senior regent for the Moose Lodge for several years as well as holding other positions thereafter. Patricia was a member for Edwards Chapel Baptist Church.”
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gary Hanson; daughters Tammy Gray, Telisa (Ricky) Strickland, and Penny (Roy) Wilson; grandchildren Starla Daniel, Josh Read, Adam Daniel, Brodey Gray, Jemma Castro, Josh Strickland, Nickie Strickland, Samantha Brown, Josh Brown, Levi Hanson, Harley Janson, and Brandon Janson; and great grandchildren Remington Aaron, Gracin Martin, Bryce Read, Austin Gunter, Wyatt Daniel, Aiden Daniel, Isaiah Hanson Gray, Hudson Brown, Harper Brown, Braxton Hanson, Carson Hanson, Eva Hanson, and Brennan Janson.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Callie Elizabeth (Peggy) Nelms.
Graveside services for Patricia Hanson will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 12:00 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park (3655 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA 30606) with Samuel D. Callahan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Lord and Stephens West (1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677).
